Cookie Information
Due to the entry into force of the relevant amendment to the «Law on Information Society Services» (LSSICE) established by Royal Decree 13/2012, it is mandatory to obtain the express consent of the user of all web pages that use non-essential cookies, before they browse them.
What are Cookies?
Cookies and other similar technologies such as local shared objects, flash cookies or pixels, are tools used by Web servers to store and retrieve information about their visitors, as well as to ensure the correct functioning of the site.
Through the use of these devices, the Web server is able to remember certain data concerning the user, such as their preferences for viewing the pages of that server, username and password, products of most interest to them, etc.
Cookies affected by regulations and exempted Cookies
According to the EU directive, cookies that require informed consent from the user are analytics cookies and advertising and affiliate cookies, with technical cookies and those necessary for the functioning of the website or the provision of services expressly requested by the user being exempt.
What types of Cookies exist?
By purpose
Technical and functional cookies: these are those that allow the user to browse through a web page, platform or application and use the different options or services that exist within it, such as, e.g., controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering the items of an order, carrying out the purchase process of an order, registering or participating in an event, using security elements during browsing, storing content for the broadcasting of videos or sound, or sharing content through social networks.
Analytical cookies: these are those that allow the party responsible for them to monitor and analyse the behaviour of users on the websites to which they are linked. The information collected through this type of cookie is used to measure the activity of websites, applications or platforms and to create browsing profiles of users of said sites, applications and platforms, with the aim of introducing improvements based on the analysis of usage data by users of the service.
Advertising cookies: these are those that allow the management, as efficiently as possible, of the advertising spaces that, where applicable, the publisher has included on a web page, application or platform from which the requested service is provided, based on criteria such as the edited content or the frequency with which the advertisements are displayed.
Behavioural advertising cookies: these collect information about the user's personal preferences and choices (retargeting) to allow the management, as efficiently as possible, of the advertising spaces. More info at: lssi.gob.es and AEPD Guide on the use of cookies.
Social cookies: these are set by social media platforms within the services to allow you to share content with your friends and networks. Social media platforms have the ability to track your online activity outside of the Services. This may affect the content and messages you see on other services you visit.
Affiliate cookies: these allow tracking of visits coming from other websites with which the website has established an affiliate agreement (affiliate companies).
Security cookies: these store encrypted information to prevent the data stored in them from being vulnerable to malicious third-party attacks.
By ownership
First-party cookies: these are those that are sent to the user's terminal device from a computer or domain managed by the publisher itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
Third-party cookies: these are those that are sent to the user's terminal device from a computer or domain that is not managed by the publisher, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.
By retention period
Session cookies: these are a type of cookie designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page.
Persistent cookies: these are a type of cookie in which the data remains stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the person responsible for the cookie, which can range from a few minutes to several years.
